Living and creating somwehere in the realm of inbetween reality and fiction, Emma Östlund is a Swedish dance artist who fuels off diving into contemporary dance, physical-and dance theater and bringing movement and naratives into life.
Emma Östlund (she/her) is a contemporary dancer, choreographer, actress, teacher and artistic director from Stockholm, Sweden. She co-runs the Swedish dance-theater company Vittra Dance Collective, where she produces work, choreographs and performs. She has worked with companies like MeerKat Dance Theater, La Macana, MuteComp Physical Theater, Staatstheater Kassel, Malmö Opera and choreographers such as Liza Penkova, Niv Melamed, Regina Van Berkel, Zoë Gyssler and Eduardo Torroja.
Emma's artistic work is heavily influenced by contemporary dance, physical-and dance theater as well as acting. As an artist and performer, Emma likes to dive into different ideas and mindsets through physical and internal embodiment, exploring layers and the complexities of psychology, physiology and musicality.
For her, dance is about creating an immersive reality through the means of the body and the psyche, and to be open and curious with where that reality can take her.
